Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Foot Health Practitioner (FHP)?

A Foot Health Practitioner is a qualified professional trained to assess, treat, and help maintain healthy feet, they are not podiatrists. Treatments by FHP’s commonly include nail care, hard skin removal, callus reduction, management of common foot conditions, and advice to help keep your feet comfortable and mobile.

What is a mobile foot care service?

A mobile foot care service means treatment is provided in the comfort of your own home. This is ideal for clients who prefer convenience, have limited mobility, find travel difficult, or simply feel more comfortable receiving treatment at home.

What areas do you cover?

I provide mobile appointments across our local service area in Calverton and Nottingham. Please get in touch with your postcode or location details and I will be happy to confirm availability in your area.

How long does an appointment take?

Most appointments last between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the treatment required and the condition of your feet. More complex appointments or first visits may take a little longer.

Do I need to prepare for my appointment?

Please ensure there is a comfortable space with good lighting for treatment. It is helpful if feet are clean and free from gel nail varnish as this can damage the equipment.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first appointment will usually include a consultation, assessment of your foot health, discussion of any concerns, treatment where appropriate, and advice on ongoing care or future appointments.

Is treatment painful?

Most routine foot care treatments are gentle and designed to relieve discomfort rather than cause it. If an area is particularly sensitive or painful, treatment will be adapted to keep you as comfortable as possible.

Do you treat elderly clients?

Yes. Many of our clients are older adults who may find it difficult to manage their own foot care. Regular treatment can improve comfort, reduce pain, and help maintain mobility and independence.

Do you visit care homes or assisted living settings?

Yes, depending on location and availability. Please contact us to discuss individual or multiple resident appointments.

Can you help if I have diabetes?

Yes, routine diabetic foot checks and basic foot care can be provided where appropriate. If any concerns require medical or specialist podiatry input, I will always advise you accordingly

How often should I book an appointment?

This depends on your individual needs. Some clients benefit from appointments every 6–8 weeks, while others may only need occasional treatment. I can recommend a suitable schedule after your appointment.

How much does treatment cost?

Prices vary depending on the type of treatment and appointment location. Please contact us for current fees and I will be happy to provide clear pricing information before booking.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Payment options may include cash, bank transfer (at time of appointment), or card payment depending on the service available. Please ask when booking if you have a preferred payment method.

What is your cancellation policy?

I kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment. This allows the appointment time to be offered to another client. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be subject to full payment.

What if I’m running late or unavailable?

Please contact me as soon as possible. I will always do my best to accommodate changes, but late notice may affect whether the appointment can go ahead as planned.

Are all instruments cleaned and hygienic?

Yes. Professional hygiene and infection control standards are followed at all times. Instruments are cleaned, sterilised via a medical grade autoclave or single-use where appropriate, treatments are carried out in a safe and professional manner.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book by phone, text, email, WhatsApp or through the website contact form. I will be happy to arrange a convenient appointment time for you.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, a referral is not usually required for routine foot care appointments. You can contact me directly to book..

What if I’m not sure what treatment I need?

That is absolutely fine. Simply get in touch, explain your concerns, and I can advise you on the most suitable appointment.
